2013 Bass Tournaments On Lake Guntersville

Lake Guntersville, in northern Alabama, is one of the Southeast's most popular bass fishing lakes. The lake is a large impound on the Tennessee River with more than 900 miles of shoreline. A number of bass tournaments are held on Lake Guntersville each year, drawing anglers from all over the region. Here are some of the major tournaments that are scheduled for 2013.

Several FLW Bass Tournaments are scheduled. FLW is a premier tournament fishing organizer. They have a hierarchy of tournament circuits that appeal to all levels of anglers from beginners to full time professionals. Fishermen can advance to higher levels and larger payouts. The FLW Walmart Bass Fishing League, Choo Choo Division has several qualifiers on Lake Guntersville. Anglers may fish for largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass. Events are scheduled for February 9 and April 6 from the ramp at Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro. April 23 and June 8 tournaments are scheduled out of Civitan Park in Guntersville. On September 28-29 there is another tournament out of Goose Pond Colony. An FLW Everstart Series Tournament, Southeast Division will take place February 28-March 2 from Lake Guntersville State Park. An FLW College Fishing Tournament is also scheduled for March 2 from the ramp at Lake Guntersville State Park.

North Alabama Tournament Anglers (NATA) holds ten monthly tournaments each year, from February-October, at different lakes in the northern part of the state. NATA is part of the Alabama Bass Federation. A February 23 Open event will be held on Lake Guntersville from Goose Pond Colony Marina in Scottsboro. A March 3 event will be held at the Honeycomb ramp, located off US Hwy 431 in Marshall County. A July 13 tournament is scheduled from Goose Pond Colony. An October 5 event will leave from the Brown's Creek ramp, off AL Hwy 69 near the city of Guntersville.

American Bassmaster Tundra Weekend Series Tournaments will take place on March 9 and September 14-15 from the ramp at Bucky Howe City Park in Guntersville. These tournaments have low entry fees and large prize payouts. There are also American Couples Series Tournaments scheduled for February 23 and July 23 from the ramp off AL Hwy 79 near Henryville. This ramp is opposite Mile Marker 370.

Big Bass Splash, presented by Sealy Outdoors and B.A.S.S., has a tournament scheduled for March 23-24 out of Goose Pond Colony. The event guarantees 5,000 in cash and prizes, with overall 1st place winning a 2013 Legend Alpha 191. Nine Xtreme Bass Series Tournaments are scheduled on Lake Guntersville in 2013. The dates are February 17, March 3 and 17, April 13 and 28, May 26, June 22, July 14, and August 4. These tournaments are all out of Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro.
